The Reanimation Library

The Reanimation Library hosts a collection of books fallen out of mainstream circulation. Outdated and discarded, they have been culled from thrift stores, stoop sales and throw-away piles across the country.

‘The Reanimation Library’ also organises various events, thus reanimating their books in different ways. On a saturday morning in 2007 a group of seven playwrighters came to the library. Each of them picked one book at random with the help of a blindfold. They each had one week to write a 10 minute short play based on the book. The next saturday, each playwrighter was randomly paired with a director who then had one day to block out the play. The next day, the playwrighter and director were randomly paired with two actors who then had one hour to rehearse the plays. The plays were performed the same evening.
